Version: 3.5.2 (using KDE 3.5.2, Kubuntu Package 4:3.5.2-0ubuntu0 breezy) Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.12-10-686 Konqueror has strange settings for shortcuts. Alt+Home, Alt+End shortcuts function as "Top of page", "Bottom of page" shortcuts, but those shortcuts are not changeable through Konqueror "configure Shortcuts" menu (they are not defined anywhere in global KDE settings either). If you try to assign Alt+Home/End keys to a different action, Konqueror does not tell you the combination is already in use (it is not defined anywhere, of course). Now, the usual "top of page" Ctrl+Home combination brings you to the user home directory even while Konqueror is in web browsing mode. And it's opposite, the usual "bottom of page" combination Ctrl+End does work as expected. "Home" (as user home directory, or, perhaps, in web browser mode - start page) should not be confused with "Top of Page", nor replace it.
No one comments this bug... what are the developers thoughts on this issue?
I'm not able to reproduce this bug in trunk 20080507 because "Home" goes to top and "End" goes to bottom of page, while alt+Home goes to "Home page", and "Home page" keys are configurable.
I actually can confirm this bug. I can reassign the Home and End keys but it doesn't warn me they are already taken (and I can't assign "start of page" or "end of page" to different keys). Using trunk r810280.
KDE 3 is no longer maintained. In KDE 4, Alt+Home and Alt+End are assignable to whatever you want to assign them to. However, you cannot change page scrolling shortcut keys (Page Up/Down, Arrow Up/Down/Left/Right) because those are not assignable shortcut keys and will not be changed.
