Version: 3.5 (using KDE KDE 3.5.1) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages Compiler: gcc 4.0.3 20051121 (prerelease) (Ubuntu 4.0.2-4ubuntu3) OS: Linux I run Kubuntu Breezy Badger (5.10), with ALSA 1.2.10 included in the kernel (linux 2.6.15-4-686 #1 SMP). I find that occasionally konqueror hogs the ALSA sound device (I use hw:1,1, which corresponds to the 2nd DAC device on my 2nd sound card -- C-Media PCI 8738). I know it is probably konqueror b/c when I run lsof /dev/snd/pcmC1D1p (corresponding to hw:1,1) I get one application using the device -- konqueror. It can be resolved by doing a "killall konqueror" or otherwise closing the application. Has anyone seen anything similar to this before? Thanks.
Konqueror should play sounds via arts, unless perhaps flash plugins access the soundcard directly. Does the problem only occur after you've viewed a site with flash animations?
I haven't really checked in any detail. It is possible. How does one turn off all plugins in konqueror? Tanim [bugs.kde.org quoted mail]
Actually, it's not, since flash runs in nspluginviewer process and not konqueror process.
I have the same problem, too. I will try to check if it's related to some flash animation. After the "killall konqueror", all system sounds that should had been heard in that interval are played consecutively...
