Version: 3.5.2 (using KDE KDE 3.5.2) Installed from: Compiled From Sources Compiler: GCC-4.1.0 OS: Linux Design issue: The configuration for both the Menu and the ToolBars is stored in the same file: "konqueror.rc". The user can modify the toolbar configuration with the GUI but not the Menu. Case: The user modifies the ToolBars and then a local copy of "konqueror.rc" (with modifications) is stored in: "$HOME/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/". Then the user updates to the next release of KDE which contains changes to the Menu and these changes do not take effect for the user accounts which have modified the ToolBars. Suggested fix: sepetate *.rc files for the Menu and ToolBars. E.G. "konq_menu.rc" & "konq_toolbar.rc".
A "next release of KDE" is supposed to discard any local modification if encountered a higher version in the global .rc
Re: Comment #1 Having an upgrade overwrite a user's ToolBar configuration does not really solve this issue. But, I will modify the title to reflect your comment. Actually, I consider this to be another bug that should be fixed. Upgrading should not overwrite your ToolBar configuration. So, the problem is that if the global Menu configuration is changed that a user's Menu configuration is not changed if that user account has modified the ToolBar configuration. Suggested solution remains the same.
Message from the Bugsquad and Konqueror teams: This bug is closed as outdated, as we do not have the manpower to maintain the KDE3 version anymore. If you still can reproduce this issue with Konqueror 4.8.4 or later, please open a new report. Thank you for your understanding.
The resolution to this seems obvious. We need two files: konqueror_menu.rc konqueror_toolbar.rc and this has not been done.
