Description Kristof Sardemann 2006-03-24 23:31:58 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.3)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
Compiler: GCC 3.4.5
OS: Linux

Hi,

I recognized the following problem with the smb-implementation in konqueror:

If I connect to a smb-share on a samba-fileserver with konqueror via smb://server/share and there I click on mp3-files to let them play with xmms or another player it works only the first time when the player was not started before (at least in 90% of the tries).

Explanation:
First I thought this could be a problem of the sound-player but everytime I click on a new (mp3-)file of the smb-share xmms loads and shows the correct new filename but doesn't play anything. To approve the problem, I mounted the same smb-share manually with smbmount and tried to click on some mp3-files in the mount-point - no problems, xmms plays everything!

To make this clear, basically it works to play a mp3-file via the konqueror-smb if xmms is not started before.
But when I played the first file and now click on another one, nothing works. xmms shows a loading animation and displays the correct new filename but doesn't play the file. clicking again on another file or manually pressing the "play"-button doesn't help anything. Only if xmms gets killed I can click again on another file, xmms starts and it works for this single case.

If you need more informations, please feel free to ask me.
Thanks in avance.

Bye,
Kristof Sardemann <ksardem@linux01.gwdg.de>

too old. Feel free to reopen if such issue still is an issue in the recent version of KDE (v4.6 and up). Thanks for the report and the very late response.
