Description Brian 2006-02-23 03:41:10 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.1)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages

After searching for text that is not in a web page, i'm prompted with

Question
--------
No matches found for 'this_is_a_bug'.
Continue from the beginning
[[Continue]] [Stop]

Continue is selected by default.

I hit continue. Now i'm prompted again with the same prompt. This is useless. It wasn't there before, it's not gonna be there now.

This behavior is inconsistent with Kwrite / Kate. It knows when it has scanned the entire document and prompts

Find
----
Search string 'foo' not found!
[[OK]]

I don't remember the previous release of Konqueror working like this. Please fix this. The "enter enter" key stroke is now hard wired into my DNA. Thanks.

Confirmed. Needs the "from cursor" option to be set to reproduce
Comment 2 Jaime Torres 2008-05-16 18:20:55 UTC
I can reproduce it in trunk 20080507.
Comment 3 Aaron Peterson 2008-08-17 11:53:51 UTC
It's still there in kde 4.1.0 Kubuntu
(I was searching for "auto"...

No matches found for 'auto'

Continue from the beginning?

Continue Stop

Continue is default... and it goes over and over and over...

Better behavior would be for it to remember if it continued from the start, and if it did have that OK dialog that was previously mentioned. If it started from the cursor show the current dialog.

Thanks!

BTW, I hate dialog boxes, and the status of the search could be placed right there in the find window... or better yet in the "/" find feature that shows up in a side bar/ child window... but that's getting too fancy...

This behaviour has completely changed with the search bar introduced in kde 4.2, no up popping dialog No matches found for 'foo' and Continue as default action anymore.

Are the issues reported here fixed with the new search bar?

KDE 3 is no longer maintained and there is no longer a dialog for finding text in a web page.
