Version: 3.5.1 (using KDE KDE 3.5.1) Installed from: Gentoo Packages Compiler: gcc 3.4.5 OS: Linux This is something that has plagued me for a while, I just finally took the time testing things to find out what was causing file tips not to show up on my system. This has been happening with the kde 3.5.X, and may have been doing this with 3.4.X. In a Konqueror file browsing window, select the "Settings->Configure Konqueror" menu, select the "Behavior" icon, and select "Show file tips" and "Show previews in file tips" checkboxes. According to this, I should be able to hover my mouse over icons and get file tips. Well it actually only works if the following is also set: Bring up "Control Center" select "Appearance & Themes", select "Style" in the list box, and select the "Style" tab. Then select the "Enable Tooltips" checkbox. Without this, file tips do not display. "Enable Tooltips" shouldn't be required to view file tips. They are two different things. Thanks for all your hard work!
Unfortunately 3.5.2 still has this problem. Not a show stopper, but anoying.
confirming for 3.5.5 The konqueror should probably be greyed out if filetips aren't enabled in the kcontrol dialog.
It works for me in konqueror 4 trunk 20080507
Works for me in svn trunk r807691 (20080507)
I don't see any filetips whether enabled or not (with tooltips enabled or not) in konqueror on trunk r808613. Has this feature been removed?
George: go to settings->configure konqueror->file management->views for the "show tooltips" option. Anyway the preview on tooltips will be reintroduced on 4.2. This bug can be closed.
