Description Phaedo 2006-01-09 16:37:45 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.0)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
Compiler: gcc-3.4.4
OS: Linux

In KDE 3.3.x, when you click the "Services" menu and then "devices", you see all your harddisk partitions and removable devices you specify in your /etc/fstab. A typical entry looks something like:

+ Hard Disc (hda6) [/boot]

In KDE 3.5.0 (actually since 3.4.x I believe), this feature has changed. Now a typical entry looks like:

+ 98M Media

Because I think the previous style is more informative, so I try to change the name. I right-click on it, but "Rename" doesn't work. Then I choose "Properties", now if I change the name like above, I get the following:

+ Hard Disc (hda6) [%2fboot]

i.e. "/" becomes "%2f". How do I get the correct character?

I can confirm this bug with kde 3.5.6 from fedora 7 testing.

Additional note, one of my drives by default had label of "/mnt/data/", I got the %2f when trying to rename to "/mnt/data [/sometest]" and couldn't rename to "/mnt/data".
It became "%2fmnt%2fdata".

This bug is no more valid with KDE 4.

If you want to request this feature back (devices list), don't reopen this bug but look for the already reported wish.
