Description Sebastian Reitenbach 2005-12-16 16:40:15 UTC
Version: 3.5 (using KDE KDE 3.5.0)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

when trying to print the page located at the above url then the print preview is an empty page. Only the header line (date, url, pages), generated by kghostview? is shown. the rest of the page is empty.

Testcase: http://terraserver.microsoft.com/about.aspx?n=AboutUsage

"Bug" confirmed with self-compiled KDE from SVN on SuSE 9.1 (roughtly KDE 3.5.3).

Will run more tests over weekend.

Sebastian, have you tested with Opera, Firefox, IE? (To be sure that the website itself isn't too weird?)
Comment 2 Sebastian Reitenbach 2007-01-05 09:32:33 UTC
I just tested with firefox and konqueror from kde 3.5.5, in firefox it prints out the site, (the diagrams are not perfectly correct, but at least the printed out page is not empty), with konqueror from kde 3.5.5 the printout is still blank. I tested on SuSE 10.1

have no IE or opera available.

Sebastian,

the fastest way to have Opera 9.1 up and running for you (if you have an Internet connection) takes 2 minutes:

 (1) [alt]+[f2]: "wget klik.atekon.de/client/install -O -|sh"
 (2) [alt]+[f2] or Konqueror: "klik://opera91"

If you then want to get rid of Opera 9.1 afterwards, just delete 1 single file:

 (3) in Konsole: "rm ~Desktop/opera91.cmg"
Comment 4 Kurt Pfeifle 2007-01-05 22:17:07 UTC

There was a typo with a "/" missing; it should be:

  (3) in Konsole: "rm ~/Desktop/opera91.cmg"
Comment 5 Jerome Quelin 2007-01-06 17:10:57 UTC
using mandriva rpms:
- empty print preview on konqueror 3.5.5
- non-empty print preview on firefox 2.0 (although the diagrams are a bit misplaced)
- non-empty print preview on opera 9.10 (and diagrams correctly placed)

==> bug confirmed.
Comment 6 Kurt Pfeifle 2007-01-06 19:57:49 UTC
Bug confirmed, identical results as in comment #5 for SUSE-10.0 with KDE 3.5.5 update RPMs. Yes, Opera 9.1 printing rocks in comparison with other browsers. :-)

Any pages which generated with "print this page" buttom have a empty print (also a empty print preview).
Pages with this phenomenon is tested from following pages:
http://www.st-georgen.de/servlet/PB/menu/1197762_l1_pdruckansicht/druck.html?print=true&amtsID=276419&modul=bw
http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Bradykardie&printable=yes
(other Wikipedida pages have no problems)
Comment 8 Ulf Bartholomäus 2007-03-28 18:14:24 UTC
Oh - excuse me, it should not named "any pages" it should "many pages" :-/
Ciao Ulf
Comment 9 Sebastian Reitenbach 2007-03-28 19:43:04 UTC
I just checked my initial URL, with KDE 3.5.6, which is still not working,

testing this one, produced at least a not empty print preview:

Bug confirmed for the "terraserver" page even on KDE 3.5.8 and 4.0.3

Message from the Bugsquad and Konqueror teams:
This bug is closed as outdated, as we do not have the manpower to maintain the KDE3 version anymore.
If you still can reproduce this issue with Konqueror 4.8.4 or later, please open a new report.
Thank you for your understanding.
