Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.92) Installed from: Unlisted Binary Package OS: Linux If I change a folders icon to a special/personal icon Konq does not show a default icon for that folder when mine deleted/moved etc. I think it will be useful to fallback to default icon when the user-set is not available.
Confirmed on 3.5 branch r575787.
Confirmed for 3.5.9 and dolphin/trunk r809039. I agree - there should be a fallback for missing icons. Steps to reproduce this problem: 1) Copy an icon to /tmp 2) Create a folder /tmp/icontest 3) Edit the icontest folder properties and set the copied icon as the folder's icon 4) Remove the copy of the icon 5) Reload your view of /tmp. icontest doesn't have an icon any longer.
Can't reproduce on dolphin trunk r1005944. The .directory file still have the deleted icon, but dolphin probably use some cache to display the icon. When you change the view type (to list or column view), an icon with a question mark (?) is displayed. Even zooming in/out the icon view display the question mark icon, only the initial size display the cached icon. So, knowing that: 1) konqueror on KDE3 is no more mantained 2) konqueror on KDE4 uses dolphin for file management 3) dolphin on KDE4 display a "fallback icon" if the icon is not present (or it uses a cached version I can safely close this bug as WORKSFORME.
