Description jacobo 2005-11-18 16:06:12 UTC
Version: 3.4.2 (using KDE KDE 3.4.2)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS: Linux

I see konqueror now (ok, for a long time, but i just upgraded from 3.3), when renaming a file, doens't select the extension (everything after the last dot) so taht it is preserved. This if ine, but with directories (folders) it should not try to preserve them.

This doesn't seem to happen here (3.5 branch r575787). Can you test with KDE 3.5?

Note that this behaviour is when renaming inside properties dialog.
Should the behaviour for this, and for RMB rename be different.

Can confirm for 3.5.5 from debian

While I can't confirm this for 3.5.9 (for me it always selects the whole filename) I can reproduce it on dolphin/trunk r809039.

I can still reproduce this on dolphin r832239 (4.1 branch). It's however only visible for known extension. Try:
1) Creating a folder named "test.dir" and rename it -> all the name is initially selected
2) Creating a folder named "test.jpg" and rename it -> only "test" is initially selected.

Can't confirm on either dolphin or konq at this point. 4.1.62
