Description Matthias Pospiech 2005-10-27 20:18:27 UTC
Version:           3.4.3 (using KDE 3.4.3 Level "b" , SUSE 9.3 UNSUPPORTED)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.5 20050117 (prerelease) (SUSE Linux)
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.11.4-21.9-default

With every! mime type that I frequently use I set the embedding feature to external viewer (which means that I do NOT want embedding)

But this setting is totally ignored.
Only if I set this feature for all 'text' elements it opens an external viewer

BTW: Id like very much a general switch saying 'please do not embed anything'

using 3.4.2 on Debian AMD64

this occurs any time there are embedded services listed for the file type. the only way to fix it that I have found is to remove all services for that type. this bug also blocks the 'Ask whether to save to disk' option as well.

Seems to work here. Can you test with 3.5?
Comment 3 Matthias Pospiech 2006-09-09 10:20:48 UTC
Sorry, I use 3.5.1 (Suse) with backports. The last Suse unoffizial release with a newer KDE Version messed with the menu so I switched back. (And still there is no kwrite in the menu...)

Matthias, have you had a chance to test this with 3.5?
Comment 5 Matthias Pospiech 2006-11-21 19:06:15 UTC
Testest with KDE 3.5.1 OpenSuse 10.1 with latest official Updates. Tested with a brand new user with default settings. I created a Textfile and opened it -> embedded. Then I switched 'text' to 'open in external viewer'-> still embedded, even for different endings like txt, tex.

So the bug is still valid under 3.5.x.

This is quite similar to a bug already reported (and fixed): bug #115072.

Actually this problem doesn't exist anymore. Tested on 3.5.9.

The problem cannot be reproduce neither in KDE4.
