Description mark 2005-09-29 15:39:50 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.2)
Installed from: Slackware Packages
Compiler: gcc-3.3.6 as shipped with slackware 10.1 & gslapt to 10.2
OS: Linux

RealPlayer 10.0.4.750 works perfectly with Konqueror except that on startup it throws a warning, "RealPlayer Embedded Player Warning - You are using a browser that does not suport scriptable plugins. Many embedded player sites may not work correctly." Options are Help or OK. IGNORING the warning results in no problems at all, CLICKING OK results in realplayer plugin not working.

Test at http://www.bbc.co.uk/news (any news item will do)
Comment 1 Rex Dieter 2005-09-29 16:17:28 UTC
I'm pretty sure this warning either comes from the plugin itself or from JavaScript code from the page in question. As a result, I doubt there's anything konq can do it about that.
Comment 2 Allan Sandfeld 2005-09-29 16:24:25 UTC
Realplayer might do a feature-check, where we fail to report the feature it is looking for
Comment 3 Thiago Macieira 2005-09-30 02:44:15 UTC
It could also be misdetecting the feature, or testing for the browser UserAgent string.

This is not a crash.
Comment 4 mark 2005-09-30 21:30:18 UTC
I can confirm that it didn't happen on slackware 10.1 stock konq which would be KDE 3.3.2 (with RealPlayer 10) although the advising error screen does carry the RealPlayer logo so probably is an RP error message in response to konq
Comment 5 Māris Nartišs 2007-01-07 13:13:54 UTC
Opening video in BBC page results in popup as described by bug reporter. That warning also has checkbox not to warn again. Warning comes from RealPrayer and not JavaScript, as it is a GTK+ widget and not KDE one as for JavaScript's.

KDE: 3.5.5
RealPlayer: 10.0.8
Comment 6 Philip Rodrigues 2007-01-07 16:12:56 UTC
Since the warning can be easily turned off, I'll move this down to minor, but the underlying cause still needs to be investigated
Comment 7 Jonas Vejlin 2009-04-05 08:16:37 UTC
do you still have this problem in konq 4?
Comment 8 mark 2009-04-05 17:00:17 UTC
Does anyone still use embedded RealPlayer content? Certainly the BBC has graduated to Adobe flash.
I haven't noticed the behaviour in Konq 4 but then I long ago clicked the 'don't mention this again' box.
Probably best to close it as 'irrelevant'.
Comment 9 FiNeX 2010-08-15 22:43:30 UTC
I agree with mark: probably this bug is no more relevant. Anyway realplayer is not officially dead :-p so I've marked this bug with "WAITINGFORINFO" until someone would give a feedback with a recent KDE 4 version
