Version: 1.4.1 (using KDE KDE 3.4.2) OS: Linux Click "Save As" and the "Save Document As" window is opened. Under the "Filter" combo there is the "Automatically select filename extension (.XXX)" check box. If you select "KWord Document (Uncompressed XML Files)" in the combo, the check box is removed; for any other selection is shown. Is this wanted or is this a bug? If you save the file in "KWord Document (Uncompressed XML Files)" format, there are 2 bugs: 1) You can give any name to the file, but it will be saved anyway as "maindoc.xml" and 2 other files are created: "documentinfo.xml" and "preview.png". 2) If you save the file with the proposed file name, KWord says that the file already exists (also if you save it a new and clean directory). If you write manually the name (also if you give the same name as the one proposed by KWord), it is saved without any warning. In the last case, the warning is not shown also if there are already the files in that dir (they are overwritten without warning)!!!
The old formats of KOffice need a file called maindoc.xml as main file. Normally it is in the zip (or tar.gz) but with the uncompressed XML format, this internal design is visible outside. It has already been critized that the save dialog becomes user-unfriendly in this mode. (I even think that there is already a bug report about it.) Have a nice day!
