Description Daniel Franke 2005-07-21 17:03:10 UTC
Version: 3.4.1 (using KDE 3.4.1, Gentoo)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.5-20050130 (Gentoo 3.3.5.20050130-r1, ssp-3.3.5.20050130-1, pie-8.7.7.1)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.11.2

In "Network Folders" (aka remote:/):
I tried to delete "Local Network" and/or "Network Services", the dialog pops up whether I would like to delete remote:/lan or remote:/zeroconf and I confirmed this query. The error message poping up tells me that it's not possible to do so.

I guess, I don't want to delete "remote:/lan", but the link pointing there?! It's possible to delete the network folders I configured before and it's not possible to delete the wizard (Add a Network Folder).

I would expect: either delete these links (Local Network/Network Services) or don't provide a delete item, neither in the context nor in the edit menu.
Another option: let me hide those entries, there's no "Local Network" to connect to ...

Thanks

Unable to confirm KDE 3.5.5 / Kubuntu 6.10. No delete option exists for the network items in remote:/. Current behaviour meets requirement of the requested bug fix.

Comment 4 Daniel Franke 2007-01-07 18:00:12 UTC
I don't know about Kubuntu - but I (still) have those menu entries in KDE-3.5.5 on gentoo. The behaviour is the same as described in the original report.
If necessary, I can provide a screenshot.
Comment 5 Juan Carlos Torres 2007-01-07 18:13:54 UTC
I can confirm this behavior in Kubuntu 6.10 using KDE 3.5.5, although there is no Delete option in the context menu. You can try to delete from the Edit menu or by pressing Shift+Delete.

However, I think that this is an intended behavior, that is, you can't delete kioslaves. The bug here probably is that there shouldn't be options to Delete if that's the intended behavior. There seem to be some kioslaves that don't allow you to delete items, like settings:/.
Comment 6 baum-im-wald 2007-01-07 21:45:17 UTC
The behaviour is very well intended, AFAICS. The entries in remote just behave as read-only files thoroughout the filesystem do. no delete context-menu entry but a delete entry in the menu.

As you cannot recreate these items, they shouldn't be deletable. the possibility to hide would be a wish, not a bug. I think someone should change the bug priority to wishlist and the title to something like "add ability to hide entries in remote:/".

Screenshot of context menu including the delete entry.

Opposed to the comments above, there IS a delete item in the context menu.
Proof attached.

Re: comment #6
How would hidden items be brought back?
Comment 9 Mike Williams 2007-01-08 04:33:15 UTC
I can confirm this on slackware 11, kde 3.5.5.
Comment 10 techo 2008-05-18 13:49:32 UTC
confirm this on KDE 3.5.9 and svn trunk r808533 (qt4.4 final).

Message from the Bugsquad and Konqueror teams:
This bug is closed as outdated, as we do not have the manpower to maintain the KDE3 version anymore.
If you still can reproduce this issue with Konqueror 4.8.4 or later, please open a new report.
Thank you for your understanding.
