I just compiled Akregator from SVN trunk and this is the bug I see:
After compilation I have opened Akregator for the first time. There were some default feeds already in the tree. I selected one and then clicked on Fetch Feed button. The articles were fetched and I selected the first (top most) article for this feed. But when I selected that article the article viewer did not display the selected article. It was still showing the description of the feed. I had to select the second article (which displayed just fine) and then the first article to display it.

Please check if the bug is still present in current SVN.

This should be fixed by now. Reopen if not.
