Version: 0.10.2 (using KDE KDE 3.4.1) Installed from: Gentoo Packages Compiler: gcc (GCC) 3.4.3 20041125 (Gentoo 3.4.3-r1, ssp-3.4.3-0, pie-8.7.7) OS: Linux The irc network I use uses their own server, which only allows connecting with your nickname when sending the password at the connection time. Kopete does have such a field when adding the network and server, but if you quit an reload kopete, the password isn't there, and it isn't even in the xml file ~/.kde3.4/share/apps/kopete/ircnetworks.xml I've tried (after digging the code) to put the password field there (using kxmleditor), but it isn't loaded (just this one field, if I modify another, I can see the changes accepted)
This bug, is a gui bug. The password entry should not exist in this dialog. The only password that we care in the code is the one in the first tab of the configuration account. Plus there is another problem, you have 2 way to register on IRC. One is using the PASS command, the other one is using a authentification service (usually named NickServ). Now we currently only support the PASS one. So it should work for you. I leave the bug open so that we don't forget to remove the password entry.
Bug #117642 seems to be a duplicate of this. I disagree with Michel. I'm using a private IRC server, and I have to put the password in the dialog when adding the network/server. And it works.
