Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.0) Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages OS: Linux Hi, I'm trying to watch the MPEG-link on: http://www.open-video.org/details.php?videoid=357 It looks like konqueror recognizes de link as 'redirect.php' and I can't open it with a one of the movie players that the quick menu provides with other movie links, but only with some HTML/PHP-editors. Firefox recognizes the link 'indi001.mpg' and it looks like he knows it's a movie file, so I think it's an issue of konqueror. This is a problem that I see a lot if I work with Konqueror (and not only with movie files, but also with other mime-types like PDF's etc.), but I can't remember the other links. i hope I was clear with this bug report and I hope I helped developing this great browser a little. Greetings Hendrik
Works fine here. I clicked it and it showed "MPEG Movie" and wanted to know if I wanted to open with MPlayer.\ trunk 424191.
Please, try right klick on the link. The 'open with' sub menu shows a list of html editors. Greetings Hendrik
Not sure if it's a bug. The behaviour is that the link is of the form: http://www.open-video.org/redirect.php?locationURL=http://www.ibiblio.org/openvideo/video/umd/indi001.mpg&videoid=357 And right clicking on it isn't recognising it as mpeg, so the various open with movie player options aren't given.
I'm not sure this is bug - Konqueror doesn't have enough information to populate the "Open With" list with video players. Firefox, incidentally, doesn't have an equivalent to this submenu of the context menu.
This bug is related to (but not necessarily a duplicate of) Bug 69087
The referenced URL is for a MPEG file so it's MIME type should be for the movie file. It is possible that code to properly parse a referenced URL for a MIME type doesn't exist, but it needs to be there.
Konqueror 3.5.9 and trunk r809039 seem to recognize the MIME type quite nicely. I guess the only way to "fix" the behaviour from c#3 would be fetching the header for the file in question - I don't think that's a viable way to implement it though.
Closing this bug as it works in both KDE 3.5.9 and KDE 4.
