Description Stephen Murphy 2005-05-29 20:30:13 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.0)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

1. Set Konqueror to impersonate Mozilla using the Tools->Change Browser ID option. This will then allow the site to detect the Flash plugin correctly.

2. Go to the following URL using Konqueror:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/german/lj/intros/index.shtml

3. You should see a Flash/Javascript app in the centre of the page. Click the 'Continue' button.

4. You should now be able to see a yellow 'Start' button. Click this.

5. This will play some audio and then move on to the next piece of audio to learn. Note that the picture above does not change ticking the boxes for the German or English text just tell you to click the Start button rather than show a transcript of the audio

6. Keep clicking next. The Flash application will cycle through all of the audio entries, but none of the other page content will change (graphics, German/English transcript text etc.)

What should happen: clicking next changes the graphic above the yellow buttons. Also, ticking the 'Show German' or 'Show English' tick boxes should show the transcript of the last piece of audio played

If the above is not clear, try the same app using Firefox 1.0. The difference will then be clear!

I have tried running Konqueror form the command line and no errors were output. The Flash player installed is version 6.

Version: Konqueror 3.5.2 on KDE 3.5.2 on Kubuntu Dapper flight 6, Flash player 7

This problem is still present in the the above version on Konqueror/KDE.

Works fine for me

Using 3.5.5, this appears to work fine as long as you change the User-Agent to FireFox or IE. The site still doesn't like Konqueror User-Agent, but works fine otherwise.

screen shot in FireFox 2.0.0.1

This screen shot shows how it is supposed to work.

screen shot in Konqueror 3.5.5 (Gentoo)

This screen shot shows how it behaves in Konqueror 3.5.5 at the same point.
Notice how the image at the top hasn't changed and how the text to the right
does not display the transcript. It just says to click the "start" button even
though you've already played a clip.

Sorry about my first crack at this bug, I don't think I quite understood it.
This is definately a confirmed bug.

On konqueror 4.0.3 the flash applet is loaded right (using a valid user-agent), but the image is not refreshed clicking on the "NEXT" button.

Flash and Netscape plugins are no longer supported.
