Description Frederik Dannemare 2005-03-11 02:50:09 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.3.2)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS: Linux

Can anyone confirm?

I suspect it is due to the gigantic size of the html file.

If, on the other hand, you believe I should not see the mentioned (subj.) behavior only because of a huge html file, let me know and I will try to isolate any offending/troublesome code from the html file.

Best regards,
Frederik Dannemare

Yes, I can confirm on KDE 3.4.0. I don't know what's causing it, though.

Confirmed on 4.0.3, even loading the page from disk, cpu and memory usage skyrockets, page size is 1.4Mb. I think this relates to a bug in the parser, same behavior is observed when viewing validation results for the page, which is also a big page itself.

This site doesn't exist any more, so could you upload a testcase please? Or is this bug closed?

New URL is http://cve.mitre.org/data/downloads/allitems.html

Bug is no longer present with 3.5.9 (yes, it's an aging Debian Lenny installation :-)). Well, CPu load is still high (around 60-80%) but no different than FireFox for example. System is usable during page load, in other words.

Someone else with the newest Konqueror installed should probably try and load the page also.

Personally, I consider this bug resolved (at least as tested with 3.5.9).
