Status: RESOLVED NOT A BUG
Severity: normal CC: caulier.gilles
Priority: NOR

Platform: openSUSE
OS: Linux
Latest Commit: Version Fixed In: 8.3.0

Description Guido Pinkernell 2005-01-23 10:47:59 UTC
Version: digikam (using KDE KDE 3.3.2)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

I don't know whether this is a bug but I file it here anyway:

When using the USB-Cable shipped with the Canon Powershot S400 I can download the JPGs but not the AVIs. However, when I use USB-cable which came with an old Olympus C-120 (US: D-380), I can download both filetypes.

It's most certainly not a bug in kate.
And if it is a hardware problem, it can not be a bug in KDE.
If this issue is related to any specific kde application, please file a report for that application.

Ahem. Reopening, reassigning...

how is this an application bug? Looks like you are having hardware problems
Comment 4 Guido Pinkernell 2005-01-24 00:04:59 UTC
I don't think so. The Canoncable runs fine with WinXP. With Digikam it doesn't. I would put that down to some communication software problem. I don't know, however, whether this really is connected with Digikam or gphoto2 or some larger USB connection problem (SuSE 9.2 with 2.6.8-24.11 Kernel here).

It seems an other occurrence of the libgphoto bug report "snd_xxxx.wav files
not found (canon driver)" I submitted some time ago.

 http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1096458&group_id=8874&atid=108874

I don't have the full logfiles any more, but I seem to remember I could get
AVIs only via the PTP driver too
