Version: (using KDE KDE 3.3.0)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux

I'd like to see the addition of a configurable delay between highlighting an item and actually marking it as read - matching KMail and KNode.

When using one of the aforementioned apps, I tend to select a folder/newsgroup - or a feed, in the case of aKregator -, and quickly go through list of new items by using the directional keys. I read the shorter items immediately, but keep the longer stuff for later, when I find the time. With a two-second delay before the state change, I don't have to manually mark anything as unread again - while the items I actually do read are correctly marked as read.

So not only is there a semantic difference between highlighting and reading, it's also an important distinction in the real world. Adding the option to aKregator would support that usage style, and bring the application further in line with its KDE contemporaries.

Feature added in SVN, by the requestor (Eike Hein) himself.
Reporters, that's the spirit! :)
