ignore my ignorance, but can JACK play MP3? No, but my idea was that Amarok could use Xine/GStreamer/whatever to decode the mp3, just like it is doing now, and use JACK in stead of ALSA for playing the decoded audio. I'm not familiar with how Xine/GStreamer/etc work, so please forgive me if I asked for something stupid. what you're asking for is gstream support for jack - which it might already have, I don't know. At least arts has. Yep, GStreamer will output to Jack if you install Jacksink. aRts can also. I don't know any of the details about the Jacksink however, so I'm not sure if you can redirect the output etc. A jack output plugin would be great. In fact, this is the reason why I still use xmms instead of amarok. I need this to play an ogg file and use my instruments to play along with various software synthesizers. Since gstreamer support for jack is broken I have added an updated wishlist item here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=134767 |
