Description Michael Wieserner 2004-09-21 16:42:07 UTC
Version: 0.9.0 (using KDE KDE 3.3.0)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS: Linux

One ICQ contact using gaim didn't receive messages from me which included german umlauts. This happened because according to the gaim developers some clients send such messages (including non-ascii characters) incorrectly.

Gaim bug reports concerning this problem:

messages will be sent as ISO-8859-1 unless there is a custom encoding specified. This should work around the bug for now. If KDE 3.3.1 doesn't work for when it's released, please let us know so that we can redesign the whole outgoing message encoding algorithm (again). Thanks.
