Implement an LDAP server in KDE? Why not store PIM data in an existing LDAP server, and use the LDAP resource? Partially because of the intimidation factor. As for myself, I'm an LDAP noob, and I couldn't figure out OpenLDAP enough to set up a desktop repository that would allow me to sync KAddressBook w/ Mozilla Thunderbird. For those like me who are new to LDAP, or don't even know what it is, it might be very helpful to have seamless integration between KDE and personal-level LDAP. Why do you use both Kmail and Mozilla Thunderbird in the same computer? If you want to change Kmail for using Mozilla you export/import the contacts and mails. What is the problem? |
