Version:           1.0-beta5 "Pierre" (using KDE 3.2.3, compiled sources)
Compiler:          gcc 3.3.4 
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.4.27

When i click on the link Complete story in the Article panel, 
akregator opens a tab (foreground) whatever I choose in the browser preference (background tab or external browser)

By default, what is checked is external browser but it opens by the way as a tab in akregator. 

Sidenotes: 
Using the Help/Report Bug in Akregator it reports incorrectly my compiler as gcc 3.3.3 whereas it is gcc 3.3.4

Sorry I didn't see it use the middle click
