Version: kdepim (using KDE KDE 3.2.3)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

I have installed the KDE 3.2.3 packages since I thought my bug was previously reported as being critical and resolved in these packages. The bug still remains.

I usually leave KDE open all day to check for messages. It's random when the bug appears. I will notice that my emails sitting in my inbox will just disappear and go into the trash. I can tell this because the number of new messages i have in my inbox will then show up next to my trash. Then, if i click on the trash can or ANY folder containging email the messages will vanish. Oddly enough, if I don't click on anything and just close Kmail or Kontact and then restart it, the messages will be recoverable. This has happened many times and all I have to do is open Kmail and put the messages back into the inbox. I usually leave Kmail sitting with the inbox selected, but let's say I leave a friend's folder selected, walk away, then come back...the emails will be in the trash can.

If this happens and i lose email, I can log into my mail server and the emails will still be sitting on the server. I do have the preference "leave messages on server" selected.

This has happened in versions 1.6 and 1.6.2, unfortunately and keeps happening. I have since started using Evolution until I get a version of Kmail that will work...waiting patiently :(

Not using any plugs, it's basically a standard install.

Jake

Do you have expiration set on the inbox? Check by selecting Expire... from the context menu of inbox.

Do you have a relevant filter? Check by selecting Settings->Configure Filters...

Did you get this bug with a recent kmail version (>1.10 ie. with KDE > 4.1) ?
