Test-case
Hmmm, must have missed the attachment button when filing this bug. Anyway, no
need to go the webpage that describes the bug, as it is attached hereby.
/Martijn
Just to clarify: kdvi does NOT crash. Either I am suffering from caffeine deliria or I should file a bug report for the Bug Report Wizard. Hmm, the attachment is not a valid tar archive: less kdvi-bug.tar.gz drwxr-xr-x martijn/martijn 0 2004-06-12 13:34:32 kdvi-bug/ -rw-r--r-- martijn/martijn 394 2004-06-12 13:18:53 kdvi-bug/kdvi-subfigure-bug.tex -rw-r--r-- martijn/martijn 246 2004-06-12 13:14:54 kdvi-bug/kdvi-subfigure-image.fig -rw-r--r-- martijn/martijn 3144 2004-06-12 13:15:05 kdvi-bug/kdvi-subfigure-image.pstex -rw-r--r-- martijn/martijn 491 2004-06-12 13:15:05 kdvi-bug/kdvi-subfigure-image.pstex_t -rw-r--r-- martijn/martijn 1072 2004-06-12 13:18:54 kdvi-bug/kdvi-subfigure-bug.dvi Try again? best, Jeroen Created attachment 6337 [details]
Testcase (this time proper tar.gz)
This attachment has all the files to recreate the problem, namely:
- minimal tex-file
- xfig figure
- xfigs' ps/tex export files (pstex and pstex_t)
- dvi (which shows the wrong images in Kdvi, but correct in Xdvi)
Sidenote: pdflatex displays correct images.
Additional information: Kdvi renders correclty on my laptop (SuSe 9.0+, updated), but incorrect on my desktop (Debian Sid): kdvi --version gives the following results: SuSe 9.0+ ----------- Qt: 3.3.0-snapshot-20040129 KDE: 3.2.0 KViewShell: 0.2 Debian Sid ------------- Qt: 3.2.3 KDE: 3.2.3 KViewShell: 0.2 Kdvi is version 1.1 on both systems. /Martijn Dear Mr. Kuipers, thanks for your bug report. Unfortunately, the issue doesn't show on my machines (I use Gentoo and RedHat Linux), so I suspekt that this is really an issue with ghostview under Debian. Unfortunately, I am rather busy these days, so it will take a while before I can look into these matters. As I have no Debian systen available, I would like to ask if you are able to compile a recent snapshot of the kdegraphics package yourself on your machine, and if you were willing to compile and run some modified test-versions of KDVI. Best, Stefan. Hi Stefan,
Why do you think it has to do with ghostview? I found it weird that XDVI
on the same machine displays correctly, but KDVI does not. I have
updated my debian KDE to 3.2.3, but the problem persists.
I've tried to compile kdegraphics myself, but it seems it needs a
complete home-build KDE, which I do not want to do right now (I have to
finish my thesis).
What is a good way to figure out what version of KDVI I am running? KDVI
--version doesn't seem to give a whole lot of information.
Kind regards,
Martijn
P.S. I don't think it is a severe problem, as most distros seem to work
ok. Maybe I should file this bug at Debian.

Hello All! I've also experienced the bug on Debian sarge. The same problem occur with the embedded dvi viewer of Kile (maybe it's Kdvi as a kpart). I inadvetendly file a new a bug report but I'll make additions to the bug here now. Regards, Sangohn Christian Hi, After receiving the bug-watch message I decided to give it another try. In the meantime my Debian machine was updated to Kdvi 1.2 and KDE 3.3.0. Now the problem does not show! Probably this was a Debian related thing. Sangohn (or anybody else experiencing this problem), can you updated to kdvi 1.2 (and thus to KDE 3.3.0) and see if the problem is still there for you? Please let me know, so I can mark the bug resolved. Kind regards, Martijn On Wednesday 17 November 2004 21:17, xtian0009@gmx.net wrote: > I've also experienced the bug on Debian sarge. I had the impression that this bug is really an issue in Debian's version of ghostscript, but I was never able to reconfirm that because I couldn't get access to a machine running Debian. If upgrading solves the issue, I would be very glad. The bug report has been lingering around for far too long, and I never found out what to do about it. Hello All! I'm running Debian/testing and update it almost everyday. KDvi is of version 1.2 with KDE 3.3.1 (from unstable) and I run them since they're available on Debian/unstable. But I've always experienced the problem and also right now. Sorry. > > Kind regards, > Martijn > I'm using Debian Sid and I have exactly the same problem. This is on KDE 3.3.2. I even downloaded konstruct to compile kde 3.4 beta2 from source - kdvi still fails to show all the figures on a page. It only shows one as others have reported. It seems to be more Debian related than KDVI, since this problem is only reported for people using Debian. I don't have the problem anymore (still runnning Debian though). Perhaps anyone still having this problem should file the bug at Debian... /Martijn P.S. Can I mark it as resolved? It is for me, but I have seen complaints that the bug is not squahed yet for others. It seems so too. Guess I'll file this under debian's bug report tracking. >> ------- Additional Comment #12 From Lucas Lee 2005-02-22 08:24 ------- >> I'm using Debian Sid and I have exactly the same problem.
