I have this very crazy idea for icon view in Konqueror / KDesktop.

In icon view, instead of displaying the whole file name, like today, we could show only a part of it. But with a twist. See attached PNG. First icon is what we have today, and the second and third is my crazy idea : having some kind of "slide bar" or whatever displayed on the file name to allow the user to control how much of the file name would be displayed. Dragging the text would allow it to be displayed more, for instance.

This idea might not be clear; don't hesitate to ask more abut it.

Konqueror now is using Dolphin for file management and I imagine this feature will not be implemented into it. Anyway I'm adding to the list with old KDE 3 bug/wishes which could be applicable in KDE 4.
