Description Paulo Fidalgo 2004-04-14 22:09:22 UTC
Version: (using KDE 3.2.1, Gentoo)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.2 20031218 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.2-r5, propolice-3.3-7)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.3

Please add support for configuring the grub boot manager.
Grub is gainning popularity and there are something for Gnome, but nothing for Kde. So I think that it will be a good aquisition.
Thanks for attention, and I hope to see this in the next version of Kde :)

Sorry, I misunderstood the bug : from Zak Jensen "My wish refers to
a KControl module used to configure "/boot/grub/menu.lst"."
Comment 3 Paulo Fidalgo 2006-02-02 15:51:18 UTC
well since I can't see any option for lilo, in kde3.5.1, I assume it was completely removed.

So I think this bug could be closed :)
Comment 4 Zachary Jensen 2006-02-04 00:25:39 UTC
If the lilo kcm module was removed from KDE 3.5.1, then I guess it would be ok to remove this request. However, it would still make managing the system much easier if it were provided.
Comment 5 Paulo Fidalgo 2006-02-04 01:08:54 UTC
well in the administration part I only have this modules:
Date & Time
Font Installer
Login Manager
Paths

but I will download one live-cd to check what are the default settings.

As of this writing I was running Ubuntu 4.07 with KDE 3.5.6. I was just in KControl and under System Administration I show:

	Boot Manager (LILO)
	Date & Time
	Disk & Filesystems
	Font Installer
	Image Index
	Login Manager
	Paths
	System Services
	User Management
	Windows Applications

So in fact, Boot Manager (LILO) is still there and there is no mention of GRUB. :)

The vast majority of Linux distirbutions these days use GRUB by defaut. I know this is true of Debian, Fedora, OpenSUSE & Ubuntu; so having GRUB there too, or instead of LILO would be very nice.

Lilo hasn't been the default in years. :)

By the way, is this the right bug to comment on, or should I be commenting in some other bug re GRUB? My comment is the first in the past year....

Since now we have this application:

This bug can be closed, IMHO.
Comment 9 Angel Blue01 2009-03-16 15:47:40 UTC
I agree, Kgrubeditor even has a systemsettings module in 4.2
Comment 10 Nicolas L. 2010-08-16 09:57:20 UTC
do you still reproduce under kde4 ?
Comment 11 Nicolas L. 2010-08-16 09:58:23 UTC
i close this bugreport as kcmlilo have been removed from KDE
