Description Rob McGee 2003-12-15 06:59:26 UTC
Version: 1.2.3 (using KDE KDE 3.1.4)
Installed from: Slackware Packages
Compiler: gcc 3.3.2
OS: Linux

The utempter package is new in Slackware as of 9.1, and it seems that since it was added all shells in konsole are listed in utmp. I have looked and I see no way to inhibit this behaviour. In contrast terminals such as xterm and rxvt have a "-ut" command-line option. gnome-terminal has a configuration option which does not seem to work with Slackware's utempter. Can you add "-ut" functionality to konsole (kwrited)? Thank you.

I think in kde 3.2 (but maybe also in 3.1) there's the possibility to manually set "AddToUtmp=false" in share/config/konsolerc, even if there's no gui for that option.

Not sure of that, though.

I have upgraded to 3.2.2, and the utmp listings are no longer occurring. I do not have the "AddToUtmp=false" option in share/config/konsolerc. Perhaps it was an issue with Slackware's libutempter (which is also upgraded.) Might as well close this one. Thanks.
