Description Robert Shideleff 2003-12-10 20:06:45 UTC
Version: 3.0.0b2 (using KDE 3.1.4)
Installed from: Gentoo
Compiler: gcc version 3.2.3 20030422 (Gentoo Linux 1.4 3.2.3-r2, propolice)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.23

Just installed Beta 2, which showed up in Gentoo portage. In this release, IDEAL mode seems to have acquired an unintended feature. Both the left side and bottom IDEAL menu blocks resize themselves incorrectly when opened and closed. Apparently, each IDEAL windows now have independent sizes, but the gray background to them does not stay in sync.

To reproduce, simply click the ideal windows open in turn. On my machine, several of them will leave a large gray background area to the left of the window. As the window is resized, this gray bar will grow to fill the same area as in the original window size. When this grey bar exists, closing the window entirely will leave the grey bar as a turd that can not be closed or removed, unless another IDEAL window is opened that happens to fill the area.

This happens on both the left side and bottom IDEAL bars.

This was already reported to the mailing list and partially solved in HEAD.

It currentlly still jumps a few pixels (the "gray background area" that you mention is 2 to 4 pixels wide/tall).
