How is that different from Alt-F2 in combination with e.g. "gg:my google search term" ? Subject: Re: launching through typing, launcher finds program i did not know that it is already such good, i'm impressed! maybe it should be documented clearly with a help? but this approach goes further: - "bastian@kde" should launch the mail tool, and not give an error message. - or "bastian@kde" should give a searchable and clickable list, with kmail, evolution, kde pim, ... and you click one of that and get bastian opened. - "folder foto" should launch the foto folder, or give a list with konqueror, kuickview, .. - "search blabla" should open a multi-click-list with google, filesystem(s) to look for blabla - if it is not clear what to do, there should be no error message, but a searchable list of programs, folders, websites, to choose --- Waldo Bastian <bastian@kde.org> wrote: > ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- > You reported the bug, or are watching the reporter. > You are a voter for the bug, or are watching someone who is. > > http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=66203 > > > > > ------- Additional Comments From bastian@kde.org 2003-10-18 14:16 ------- > How is that different from Alt-F2 in combination with e.g. > "gg:my google search term" ? __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Subject: Re: launching through typing, launcher finds program thanks a lot! it would be great, if you could make a note/help on the dialog about the implemented features, and maybe also possible extensions like lists and learning prior decisions from selecting list entries)? like a link to the shortcuts in configuration, where gg: is defined? otherwise you need to be a "kde-expert" to even know about these very useful features. --- Waldo Bastian <bastian@kde.org> wrote: > ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- > You reported the bug, or are watching the reporter. > You are a voter for the bug, or are watching someone who is. > > http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=66203 > > > > > ------- Additional Comments From bastian@kde.org 2003-10-20 17:48 ------- > Entering e-mail address now starts your favorite mailer. > > I leave the searchable lists for someone else. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! Shopping - with improved product search http://shopping.yahoo.com You can now also do "40+10" how wrong things get removed again? i.e. mozilla-firebird got renamed to mozilla-firefox, but firebird stays the top entry in the launch-list and gives a "could not find .. executable error". One of the problems I find is that I have to right the all name (or link or wahtever) in order to run anything. It would also be very interesting to have (has the Mac launchbar) a autocompete, so that when I start writing something it would display a possible list of thins I want to run. I know it currently does that, but only with things I already ran in the past, not with all the possible things I can run. Also, as someone already said, it's imperitive that people know what options are available to klauncher and how to use them. I would like to use those options very much. Thanks In openSUSE 10.2, with the new kickof start menu, they pretty much solve this bug. When you type in the "search box" it shows possible applications you might be trying to run. The search box usually found in KDE start menu also helps, but now it would be nice to have a stringer relationship between the "Run Dialog" and that search box. Bug obsoleted by plasma's krunner |
