Description Ian Wadham 2003-08-07 03:09:28 UTC
Version: 3.0.0a4 (using KDE 3.1.1)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3 20030226 (prerelease) (SuSE Linux)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.20-4GB

Afaik there is no longer any documentation of where things should go in a KDE
application, though there used to be in KDE 2. It is hard (at first) to find out where
Gideon has put things during an install. Also it is hard to know, other than by
guessing or reading the source files of other apps, what range of symbolic names
is available, what the names are used for and what their possible values are.

Could we have a popup help or something similar, to show us the correct names,
current values and correct usage of libraries, locations in KDE, locations in Linux
(if used, e.g. /usr/local/kde) and locations in Qt?

This report lacks specifics, but there are various tutorials on techbase to tell you how to write KDE apps.
