Description Jaye Inabnit 2003-07-05 06:59:28 UTC
Version: 1.5.1 (using KDE 3.1.1)
Installed from: (testing/unstable)
Compiler: gcc version 3.2.3 20030309 (Debian prerelease)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.20

Spam causes users to delete large amounts of mail rapidly. The DELETE icon on toolbar seems to delete messages (non-retrievable) instead of moving them safely to "trash" folder. This is a problem when user clicks the DELETE icon and deletes *real* mail.

Note: this is not a problem with the keyboard shortcut "d" where mail *is* safely moved to "trash" folder.

Recommend a setting for the delete icon in settings so this defaults to "move to trash" as opposed to an actual DELETE function.

Thank you!

Wishing you well.

Use the trashcan icon next to the delete icon if you want to move
messages to the trash folder.

We didn't put the following warning in the Welcome to KMail message for
nothing:
"IMPORTANT CHANGE:
The 'Delete' Action now irrevocably deletes messages.
Use 'Move to Trash' to put messages into the trashcan."

And you don't get the following warning for nothing if you click on the
Delete icon:
"Do you really want to delete the selected message?
Once deleted, it cannot be restored!"

The next time please read the warnings you get before you disable them.

I see (in KDE 3.1.2) that the "Move to Trash" action is enabled even when the selected
message is in the trash. Is this another bug?
