Konqueror rendering ANZ home page well despite braindead HTML

Description cuteguynz 2003-07-03 07:43:24 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.2)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
Compiler: gcc 3.2.2
OS: Linux

Steps to reproduce:

    1. Open konqueror.

    2. In location box i typed http://www.anz.co.nz. Press enter. (redirects me to http://www.anz.com/nz/default.asp)

    3. Click internet banking radio button in top right hand corner of webpage. Click 'log on' button. (new window loaded with regular user login box).

    4. Enter my login details and click 'Log on' button.

    5. Then an error message saying something like 'This service is not available' comes up in red with the anz logo...

There isn't much we can do about this without an account at the bank.
Perhaps you can create a testcase of some JS and/or HTML that is failing?

I noticed that mozilla logs onto anz internet banking fine yet konqueror does
not .......

That means that either there's a bug in Konqueror or that the site simply doesn't let Konqueror
work. Either way, we can't do the tests because we are not clients of the bank.

If you could provide us with a test case, we could maybe find the error.

Can you also try to change your browser identification string to see if it helps?

Fixed in KDE 3.2

ANZ's HTML sucks. I mean it *really* sucks. Throw the Validator at it and be *amazed* that it ever works. Structural errors galore, bizarre attributes, name it and this site has it. Kudos to Konqueror for rendering it so well, let alone rendering it at all.

My wife is reluctant to give out her banking details so others can test it. I might see if I can open a $10 account just for the purpose.
