Description Volker Augustin 2003-03-28 23:23:20 UTC
Version: (using KDE Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
OS: Linux

As of recently kaddressbook tries to shorted names when it thinks they don't fit in the column. E. g. "Michael Prescott" might be shortened to "Michael...scott". Unfortunately this also happens if there is a lot of unused space to the right of the text in that column.

Hi Tobias,

as this still happens with the latest CVS I am reopening the bug report. This
currenlty happens for 3 entries in my addressbook.

And closing again. It appears the "FN:" entries in std.vcf still contained the name
with the ellipsis. So I removed that line from std.vcf. Afterwards the entries show up
with no name in kaddressbook, so that was probably the wrong approach.
Deleting first and last name and reentering them then fixes the problem for the
addresses in question.

And don't forget to check the resolve bug checkbox ... stupid me.

The development of the old KAddressBook will be discontinued for KDE 4.4.
Since the new application has the same name, but a completly new code base we close all bug reports against the old version and ask the submitters to resend there reports against the new product.
