Description Jozef Riha 2003-03-26 20:48:00 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1)
Installed from: Unlisted Binary Package
OS: Linux

mouse over a specific mp3 file in konqueror (with audio preview on) causes konqueror to play a few strange noises, then silence and since then it does not play (as a preview) any sound file until restart. if you are interested in the mp3 i am talking about, please let me know (it has 3,2 mb - so we should discuss how to transfer it).

cheers,

Does that happen on any MP3 file? And does it happen every time? Aside from
that, can you listen to MP3 files normally, including that one that's giving you
problems?

I'm asking this because it might be just a corrupted MP3 file that can't be read by
the preview plugin, but that can be interpreted by a more complex application like a
player.

nope. thank god.

yup. it is 100% reproducible.

yes. i am able to play it in mplayer/xmms (also after reproducing the
error).

ooops, maybe this bug should be reassigned. noatun is *unable* to play
mentioned MP3 file (the same strange sounds as in konqueror).

i got it but IMHO it should not harm playing of the other files

I think i may be having a similar problem.
When i mouse over some mp3 files, konqueror will segfault instantly.
It only does it with a few files but it is 100% reproduceable with thoese files.
Also these files will crash other KDE programs when opened. The effected programs that i know about, in addtion to konqueror, are noatun and juk.
So far i have found two files which cause the error. I can not finding anything specific to these two files in there name or tag info which might be causing the bug. Also these two files play flawlessly in windows with both iTunes and Winamp.

As this is a rather old bug, is there still chance to have a look at those mp3 files ?
If not, I'd like to close this bug.

Let rest it in peace
