Description gerein 2003-02-20 00:53:18 UTC
Version: (using KDE 3.1.0)
Installed from: (3.0)
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.4 20011002 (Debian prerelease)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.18

When I rotate a JPEG image, the EXIF-information contained in that image is lost, which it should not be.
Comment 1 Matthias Kretz 2003-03-06 16:41:24 UTC
I don't have images with EXIF information myself. Furthermore I consider this a wishlist item
since KView's job is to show images and sometimes, if needed, even do some basic processing.
But when you save an image in KView you do exactly that - preserving Meta Information that
comes with the image is a feature that's not very high on my list (sorry, that list is pretty long).

If you're interested in helping me out on this (or if anybody else is) I'm happy to include these
changes in KView.

I think this is not a KView change, but a kfile_jpeg.
KView must get kfile_jpeg KMetaInfo, rotate the image and write it back.

Currently kfile_metainfo doesn't support writing of the EXIF header. It can only write the JPEG comment.

I sent to the kuickshow mantainer a patch to make kuickshow not loose the comment field when saving.

Kview is no more mantained/developed. This bug wish will not be fixed until a new developer will work on it. Moreover this product is not ported to KDE4. On KDE4 it has been replaced by another software. I'm closing this bug as "unmantained". I'm sorry.

Regards.
