Subject: Re: New: Kmail send quoted-printable even if MIME QP is not selected Are you sending signed messages? Subject: Re: New: Kmail send quoted-printable even if MIME QP is not selected Are you sending signed messages? Subject: Re: Kmail send quoted-printable even if MIME QP is not selected Le Jeudi 20 F Subject: Re: Kmail send quoted-printable even if MIME QP is not selected Signed messages are always encoded with the quoted-printable encoding (since KDE 3.1) because this is the only way we can guarantee that no buggy mail server strips off the 8bit characters and thus breaks the signature. BTW, we also quoted-printable encode messages if they contain a line that starts with "From ". This is also done in order to prevent the message from being mangled by buggy MTAs. Subject: Re: Kmail send quoted-printable even if MIME QP is not selected Hi, OK, I understand, is this really necessary? I think buggy MTA should be fixed rather than KMail behaviour changed. Is this in the documentation? I think it should be. I didn't find anything about this in KMail documentation. Thanks, Yann Le Jeudi 20 F Subject: Re: Kmail send quoted-printable even if MIME QP is not selected On Sunday 23 February 2003 10:58, yann@forget-me.net wrote: > OK, I understand, is this really necessary? Therefore it makes sure that buggy MTAs can't cause too much trouble for recipients of signed messages. On a sidenote, IMO mailing list archive software should support quoted-printable encoding. > Is this in the documentation? BTW, for PGP/MIME messages using quoted-printable (or base64) encoding is a requirement (RFC 3056). |
