Version: 3.0 alpha 1 -- gideon (using KDE KDE 3.0.99)

I use KDevelop 2.x *every* day for development work, on my 1024x768 thinkpad. KDevelop 2.x has the wonderful option of assigning a keybinding to show/hide the bottom pane, the one which shows messages, konsole, debug stack etc. On my relatively small screen, that area takes up enough space to make writing code a pain, so I set a keyboard shortcut to show/hide it. This is wonderful, it makes my work much more convenient.

But gideon doesn't seem to have a shortcut for showing/hiding this area. Frankly, that's *almost* a dealbreaker, as it's a real pain to have to move the mouse to the active pane button and click it, just to get enough screenspace to see my code properly. Does that make me lazy? Yes! But KDevelop 2.x made this fast & easy, and gideon makes it slow.

So, that's all. I installed alpha 2 last night, and I'm eager to see if this has perhaps already been implemented. Until it is, however, I'll stick with kdevelop 2.x.

Otherwise -- good show. Gideon is shaping up wonderfully.

In Tabbed-Page-Mode: Ctrl-Shift-O defaults to opening/closing the bottom view.

In IDEAl Mode: Alt-L, Alt-B, Alt-R open and close the left, bottom, and right panes.

These are configurable in Settings->Configure Shortcuts

Unless you meant something else? :)

Subject: Re: Needs a keyboard shortcut to hide/show messages/konsole/etc/ pane on bottom of interface

There's a possibility that I am blind, retarded, or just plain defective. I
tried this and it didn't work, and then noticed the little "dot" box in the
upper right (next to the "triangle") was depressed. I clicked it and tried
alt-u and behold, it works. Thank you! Perhaps it always did... beats me.

But, might I suggest, a comprehensive user interface manual? I'm no newbie,
and this little bit stumped me. Something with comprehensive explanations of
how do do x, y, z and so on, complete with screenshots and quicky tutorials.

Your suggestion is quite valid...it's definitely something that's being worked on (by
me...alone...with no help...help!). Anyway, between trying to balance bug fixes and get
gideon released it's not coming as fast as it could. I hope to address it before the final
release, though. :)
