Description guido 2002-04-20 11:51:01 UTC
(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package:           konqueror
Version:           3.0.5 (CVS >= 20020327) (using KDE 3.0.5 (CVS HEAD >= 20020412))
Severity:          normal
Installed from:    compiled sources
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.4 20011002 (Debian prerelease)
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.4.18
OS/Compiler notes:

The automatic audio and video file preview of Konqueror doesn't work if the arts deamon has been started after this instance of Konqueror. This is a slight nuisance for me because arts lately tends to crash quite often on my machine especially when trying to preview certain avi-files.

Shouldn't it be rather easily possible to solve this problem using some sort of dcop method?

Hhmm, as arts is build before kde it isn't able to know about dcop...

The implementation of KArtsServer should contains some code for this, but it isn't working.
Should go on the todo-list if it isn't...

Since arts is dead and replaced by phonon in KDE >= 4, and this bug requires a new feature, I am closing as won't fix.
