(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package: kwin
Version: KDE 2.2.1
Severity: wishlist
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: gcc 2.96
OS: Linux
OS/Compiler notes: Mandrake 8.0

Today I was in a chat writing a message. I was about to press enter when a message about a server that doesn't respond popped up (I was loading a few pages at the same time). Of course the focus changed and the enter key was sent to the message box closing it.

I think KDE should implement some way of preventing this as important information could be missed this way. Perhaps avoiding popping up windows when the user is writing (less than n seconds passed since a key was pressed) or implement Win98-like behavior keeping them minimized. Maybe even both :-)
