(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package: kate
Version: kate 1.0 kde 2.2.1 (using KDE 2.2.1 )
Severity: wishlist
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
Compiler: Not Specified
OS: Linux
OS/Compiler notes: Linux on Celeron > 650MHz

kate crashed when writing a changed file in a nfs mounted directory (after doing so without problems for days).

After reopening the file I saw it was incomplete. When searching for the backup file every good editor creates I could not find one (~). And there seems to be no setup option in kate / kwrite to activate "create backup files on saving".

I am unhappy.
Please add this feature!

This is now implemented in katepart (in HEAD) and will be available to any application using
katepart, including the Kate editor
