Description Graeme Hewson 2013-10-19 15:46:56 UTC
To reproduce:

1. Have Konqueror (with KHTML) on the desktop and some other application, such as another Konqueror window.

2. Go to some site with a search feature and use it to find some page longer than a screenful. E.g., go to https://bugs.kde.org/ and search on 100, or go to https://en.wikipedia.org and search on KDE. Enter the search term manually, in full (don't use paste or any typeahead feature).

3. Notice that no area has focus (pressing Space or Page Down has no effect).

4. Give the focus to the other application (from step 1).

5. Give the focus back to the original Konqueror window. This is most natural with Focus Follows Mouse policy, or similar. If using Click To Focus, or similar, click on the window title.

6 Notice that focus is now in the location bar (the text cursor is there).

7. The user wants to page down, so presses Space or Page Down. What happens is that Space inserts a space before the URL, and Page Down reloads the page which was second in the history list (bug 171612).

Expected behaviour:

After step 5, either the situation at step 3 should be restored, or the body of the page should have focus. Preferably, the body of the page should have focus, and it should do so after step 2 (this is what WebKit does).

This is a restatement of bug 304865 (hopefully in clearer terms).

Dear Bug Submitter,

This bug has been stagnant for a long time. Could you help us out and re-test if the bug is valid in the latest version? I am setting the status to NEEDSINFO pending your response, please change the Status back to REPORTED when you respond.

Dear user,

KHTML (and KJS) was a long time more or less unmaintained and got removed in KF6.

Please migrate to use a QWebEngine based HTML component.

We will do no further fixes or improvements to the KF5 branches of these components beside important security fixes.

For security issues, please see:

https://kde.org/info/security/

Sorry that we did not fix this issue during the life-time of KHTML.

Greetings
Christoph Cullmann
