Please try whether my recent fix in both cvs branches solves the problem for you. Bye Alex Just wanted add that my problem seems the same. I just got here because I thought bug #54043 was actually the bug that I was experiencing, but that one is now fixed and it seems that this bug actually describes my problem a bit better. The effect is simple, I can do smb:/, from there go on to smb:/WORKGROUP and smb:/WORKGROUP/SERVER, but smb:/WORKGROUP/SERVER/SHARE (or just smb://SERVER/SHARE for that matter) never returns a result, the Konqueror throbber just keeps animating forever (left it a long time once, just to be sure). (NB: Depending on the security setting of the share a login dialog might or might not appear prior to the never-ending story. The end result stays the same: no results are being shown) Alex: how can I test your recent fix? Ok, stupid question: you really used a current version from cvs ? I.e. at least from sunday evening ? If it doesn't help, contact me directly via email. I guess we'll have to meet via irc or ICQ then. Alex it's not confirmed Stephan, what do you want to say by pointing out that it's unconfirmed ? Alex Our two mandrake 9.1 machines are experencing this problem here. We are using a fresh install of mandrake 9.1 with kde 3.1.0 and we get a list of shares, but whenever we try to enter one, konqueror just sits there loading forever. Using other programs to access smb works fine. I've experenced this bug on and off for years, I belive I had it under kde 2, using mandrake as well. I dont experence this bug under gentoo, with kde 3.1.0, so it may be something mandrake specific? Just a PS to my previous message, but by "Other programs" I mean other non kde programs, such as Nautilus, LinNeighborhood, etc. trying to access any directories or files in any smb share, via smb:// in kde programs fails of course. We are using samba 2.2.7, but I couldnt tell you the samba version on the working gentoo machine, because I am at work at the moment. Yet more info, this bug appears to be a duplicate of bugs number 54543 and 41284 . Both of them are marked resolved, but nobody seems to know what the problem is, or exactly how it has been resolved?? Although I don't know what the problem was I do know that the latest version from CVS fixes the problem. So I can confirm that it HAS actually been fixed. Hi, you can get the current (fixed) version either from cvs (both HEAD and KDE_3_1_BRANCH) or as a single package from http://www.neundorf.net/src/smbro-3.1.3.tar.bz2 If it doesn't work for you, let me know.
