Description GK 2012-01-31 15:33:12 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.8.0)
OS: Linux

In Energy saving settings I have selected the action 'hibernate' when the lid is closed under 'Buttons and events handling'. However the laptop never goes on sleep when the lid is closed. This appeared after the upgrade from KDE 4.7.4 to 4.8.
The machine is a DELL inspiron 1525, Kubuntu 11.10, KDE 4.8.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Switch on the laptop and login.
Wait for finishing the load.
Close the lid of the laptop.

Actual Results:
Computer continues to work until the battery is empty.

Expected Results:
I expect the computer to go to sleep mode after the lid is closed.

This feature worked flawlessly since KDE 3.xx on the same machine.

Sorry, a typo -- I have selected the action 'sleep' in the Energy saving settings.

Potential duplicate of bug 289760, can you confirm?
Comment 3 GK 2012-02-02 06:19:46 UTC
It seems like, although I never thested in 4.8 RC1-2.

Graphics is Intel, not Nvidia.
Comment 4 Dario Freddi 2012-02-02 07:36:07 UTC
Yeah, unfortunately this happens on Intel drivers as well. If you could attach a kded4 log in the other bug, it would help us in tracking the issue further. Thanks
