Bug 283866

Summary: Transparent selection works the "reverse" way
Product: [Applications] kolourpaint Reporter: ash <narutoplasma14>
Component: generalAssignee: kolourpaint-support
Status: REPORTED ---

Description ash 2011-10-12 15:38:07 UTC
Version: Comes with KDE (using KDE 4.7.1)
OS: Linux

When using the select tool and moving objects, with the tool in "transparent background" mode, it makes transparent _everything except_ the background color, instead of the background color itself

This is a bug, but the way it works now is usefull for some tasks so it would be great to have a setting (or another tool) to get this behavior when wanted

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Paint a black area in part of the page
Paint a blue line in the white area
Use the select tool, switch it to transparent background mode
Select white background color
Select the line and move it to the black area

Actual Results:
Negative of the line in black background (ie. black line "hole" in white background)

Expected Results:
Blue line in black background

This bug is already reported as bug 277167. Since this request actually requests that the current behavior is kept as a (configurable) feature, I mark this as a wish item.

If I have well understood, at the time to move something (letters, stripes, etc.) only one colour can be moved with a transparent background. Is it right?
And the colour is choosen with right click in the colour palette, right?

If this is true, in the wish list may put to move any colour at the same time. This can be a very powerfull tool. (Like in MS Paint)
