Description Kenneth Aar 2010-02-24 14:34:36 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.4.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

A very nice feature would be the ability to record your own alarm sounds or reminders from inside Kalarm and have it ask when it should play it.

EG:

- Open Kalarm
- Press "record alarm" button
- Speak your message ie: "You must call Michael about that thing (insert lomng message here)..."
- Press "stop recording alarm" button
- Fill in date and time for the recording to be played back
- Set time occurs and Kalarm plays recording of your own voice saying "You must call Michael about that thing (insert lomng message here)..."

Usecase: For most users it is faster to record a "voicemail" to be played back than writing a couple of paragraphs of text.

Currently, sound recording is the province of specialised audio applications, because of the variety of possible audio systems provided by operating systems. It would introduce too much extra complexity, both to implement and maintain this feature, to add it to KAlarm.
