Description Jeffrey 2010-01-28 23:13:09 UTC
Version: 2.2.2 (using KDE 4.3.4)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages

Albums downloaded from eMusic.com and also those that I rip often have an image file in their folder, which is usually the Album Art. I'd like the option to have Amarok just assume this is the album art and auto-display it without having to manually set each album. For those folders with more than one image, I's say to select the largest square-ish image, as the other files may be the back of the CD or something (which in theory could also be a square image). Of course, if Amarok is wrong I'd like to be able to fix it as well.

Thanks for Amarok!

Amarok already looks for files named cover.jpg or cover.png, so it should be enough to rename your cover images. Of course you can select to set or unset a cover manually by right-clicking on the album and selecting the cover options in the CollectionBrowser, or select the Album options in the Playlist context menu. Can you please check again and confirm?

eMusic.com downloads the files as Folder.jpg, perhaps we could add {F,f}older.* to also be set as the cover? Other times though the file is just named whatever its named from the website where I download the image, so that would require manual changes for every album.

Of course, if needed I can change the art manually.

I don't see that, only Stop, Queue, Remove, or Edit. Album Options would be good, as I would imagine that is how I would set a soundtrack as Various Artists, but that's a different issue. I don't see an Album Options entry there however.

Thanks for getting back to me. If needed I will create a script to rename my Folder.jpg files as cover.jpg. Thanks again.

We can add the F/folder.* option, but if the name is different without a specific name we can search for it is not possible, so you need th rename those. BTW, normally you can select the file name when you download, why not just choose it correctly at that moment?

In the Context Menu of the Playlist...

    This reverts commit 2e58e40975a0730ea1d2d39107654469c64a0bf0.

Gah. Turns out, there _are_ actually applications using "Folder.jpg".
    So, here we go again...

The eMusic downloader app doesn't give me an option, I looked. Maybe if I upgrade that app tho.

I know that KDE (in the 3.5.x days at least) can (could) have its folders appear as images with that file, but for a large music collection that takes a heavy toll when opening in Dolphin, so I don't have it set to do that

Jeffrey, you can use the "Save Image as" option and change the default name when storing on the disk.
