Description Scott Kitterman 2010-01-05 04:52:14 UTC
Version: 1.12.4 (using KDE 4.3.4)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Back in KDE3 times, with ktnef, one could click on a winmail.dat file and open the embedded attachements.

I see the capability being improved here: http://techbase.kde.org/Schedules/KDE4/4.1_Feature_Plan
so I gather KDE4 is supposed to be able to handle this.

I have tried on three machines with no success (all Kubuntu) running 4.2.4, 4.3.2, and 4.3.4. When I click on the attachment, it asks if I want to save, open with, or cancel.

I can confirm this bug with KDE 4.6.1. Winmail.dat are not readable in KMail. It popup the standard windows asking which program should be used.
I have the libktnef.so.4 library installed and kmail is linked to it according to ldd.

I, too have this bug on Kmail (Version 2.1.1 using KDE Development Platform 4.6.5). I can't see any linkage in ldd to libktnef, although libtknef (will investigate that). I'm running Gentoo, with kernel 2.6.39.
